Back to Yoga Basics will guide you through 25 yoga poses over 4 weeks in an easy to follow format. You will learn yoga alignment principles and basic anatomy so that you understand each pose in your body. Yoga is not just for some bodies, yoga is for all bodies.

You may find yourself spending hours sitting at your desk or behind a computer, your body hunched over and uncomfortable. Your mind races from one task to the next, worrying about deadlines, the kids, the bills, doing all the things, with no time for yourself. You have heard that yoga is a great way to feel stronger and more relaxed, but you don’t know where to start, or how to possibly fit it into your day.

Every journey begins with a single step.

What if you could practice yoga in short sessions that fit easily into your day? What if these practices were specifically made for beginners, offering short lessons that help you understand the poses in your body, while calming the mind.

Yoga is a mental and physical practice that creates strength, balance, and mobility in the body, while cultivating a calm, present mind. The uncertainty in the world today causes us so much stress and anxiety. Our “sitting” lifestyle creates pain, stiffness, and weakness as we age. If you feel sluggish, stressed, and uncomfortable in your body, Back to Yoga Basics might be the solution! Learn to move, breathe, and balance, while cultivating kindness toward yourself. Yoga is non-competitive; you move at your own pace, in your own body, doing only what feels good and letting go of the rest.

Back to Yoga Basics is your opportunity to build strength, balance, mobility, and mindfulness in a safe, supportive community. All poses can be modified to fit your strengths and limitations. By the end of the 4 weeks, you will feel ready to step into a group yoga class with confidence and bodily autonomy.

In this 4 week course you will learn:

  • 25 basic yoga poses
  • Basic alignment principles
  • Basic anatomy related to the yoga poses
  • Names of these poses
  • What muscles are being stretched or strengthened
  • How to move efficiently from one pose to the next
  • How to breathe properly
  • How to listen to your body and follow its guidance

Each week you will follow three 15-20 minute videos guiding you through 2-3 poses each. We’ll meet live, over Zoom, to go deeper into the yoga principles from the self-study sessions, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, get help and support, and learn from each other.

You will also get 3 bonus videos:

  • How to use props to support your yoga practice
  • How to listen to your body and what different sensations are actually telling you
  • A 20 minute stretch class for when your body feels stiff and just needs to move
